Turning Waste into Money for Wishes 4 Kids

bws_wishes_4_kidsBakers Waste Services' chosen charity this year is Wishes 4 Kids, and amongst our fund raising efforts, we included turning waste into a resource as a way of raising extra money for the charity.

Waste that Bakers thought could be reused has been cleaned up has been put on our ebay account, with all proceeds going to Wishes 4 Kids. We have been amazed at the response generated in utilizing the waste. Not only are we reducing the waste that we would usually send for landfill or recycling, we are re-using and generating money for charity.

This concept came after Bakers Waste Services have been working closely with NISP
(National Industrial Symbiosis Programme) for many years now and Managing Director Paul Baker, thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to generate more money for our chosen Charity, Wishes 4 Kids.

Watermead Clean Up

Bakers Waste help clean up local beauty spot

After the Leicester Mercury highlighted that parts of Watermead Country Park, near Syston, had become littered with debris, including dumped road signs, plastic bags and toys, Bakers Waste Services Ltd contacted the Mercury offering to help.

Judy Collingsworth, business development manager at Bakers Waste, offered to send a team to collect and recycle items.

She said:

"We read about the problem in the paper and thought we should do something. We're a local business and we want to help a beauty spot. We'd like to send a crew down to do a litter pick and recycle the items. We'll need to inspect the site first to see how many people would be required to clear it all up but we're happy to do it free of charge."
