Colwick Hall Hotel Improves Recycling

Colwick Hall Hotel joins Bakers Waste Services to increase their recycling rates and reduce their landfill costs.

As part of our drive towards 0% landfill in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, Bakers Waste Services are trialling various new technologies to reduce waste disposal and increase waste recycling. These technologies include:

  • residual waste to energy
  • anaerobic digestion.

Residual Waste To Energy

Residual waste is waste that cannot usually be recycled - including household rubbish, agricultural and industrial waste. Using processes such as Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT), this residual waste is first treated to recover as much recyclable material as possible. The remaining waste is then converted to energy (usually electricity) using one of several processes.

Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion is the process in which microorganisms breakdown biodegradable materials, during which bio-gas can be captured and used for energy. The heat generated by the process of anaerobic digestion can also be used as a source of electricity.

Reducing Waste Landfill in Leicestershire

By trialling these new processes Bakers Waste Services is in the vanguard of efforts to improve recycling and reduce landfill in Leicestershire. With the prospect of further increases in Landfill Taxes, Bakers Waste Services are also helping local Leicestershire companies reduce their costs.
